I’ve had several inquiries about what makeup I use, so I thought I would write a note about them. First, I should note that I only recently discovered this makeup thing, and it’s because my Serge Luten representative Bryce doesn’t ever try to put bronzer or liquid foundation on me (those are deal-breakers.)
I discovered that Serge Lutens, purveyors of some of my favorite fragrances (Iris Silver Mist, Bois et Violette) recently introduced a makeup line make in Japan. What piqued my curiosity was not only that everyone was packaged in severely minimal packaging, but that it was expensive, which is why I had to try it out. It is also harshly edited - there won’t be products coming out weekly to keep you on a buying schedule. Also everything comes in refillable packaging and the refills are much less expensive. I didn’t need to hear anything else.
The only thing I’ve added to this lineup since purchasing the initial set (after which I disposed of all the now crappy-seeming makeup under my counters) covers every base.
From left: two colors lipstick, two “water-colors” for the lips - they can be used alone as a tint, or to change the shade of a lipstick worn on top of it. The foundation powder is the real winner in this set: there is no liquid foundation. You brush it on, and use the sponge to touch up during the day. To the right is the only eye palate made by Serge. There is a base and 3 colors. That’s severe, and I approve.
On the other side is a atomizer from By Kilian filled with Rose Oud by Calice Becker. The atomizer is made of metal and is the most satisfying objet you can imagine.
Because SL had not yet come out with a blush that fit me, I was using my old Shu Uemura blush. (That has since been removed.) In the two small boxes are an under the eye lightning foundation cream that has an extraordinary texture - you simply can’t feel it. There is some mascara as well as a pot of kohl, which comes with a double tipped brush.
That’s it. Get rid of everything hidden under your sink. Go minimal.
I’ll write next about skin care.
